Introduction
Bachelor of Entrepreneurship Development (BED) is a four-year interdisciplinary programme with a total new insight designed to prepare future entrepreneurs equipped with comprehensive knowledge and skills to start their own business. The main goal of the programme is to produce the private and social sector entrepreneurs, and to develop qualified development professionals required in the field of entrepreneurship development. The programme is designed to prepare future entrepreneurs with the skills and knowledge to start their own businesses. The program will focus on identifying, analyzing and evaluating global and local entrepreneurial opportunities; developing creativity and understanding innovation; ethical and social responsibilities for entrepreneurs; environment assessment for new enterprises; marketing research; financial planning; developing effective enterprise/ business plans to obtain financing; sources of capital; legal issues related to starting and operating a business; valuation; family owned enterprise/ business; succession; upgrading and opportunities for women and minority entrepreneurs.
Objective of the Course
The objective of BED is to culminate in knowledge, technology, skill and practice in the areas of entrepreneurship development, and the course is designed to achieve the following specific objectives.
- Equip students with a set of core knowledge, skills, and competencies required to work in com munities, social enterprises and private enterprises;
- Keep students abreast with current developments and issues in the entrepreneurship development;
- To train students towards fulfilling the demand of technical and professional human resources required for entrepreneurship development;
- To provide adequate educational background for careers in individual, community, social, public and private enterprises;
- To develop the extracurricular competencies through training, seminar, exposure and practicum;
- To enable students to understand the system of enterprises, entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship;
- To develop the knowledge and skills in applied entrepreneurship development;
- To ensure the skillful, practical and leading human resources through the use of contemporary technologies
- To enable students to learn the skills and to practice the methods and techniques of entrepreneur ship development.
