Introduction

Bachelor of Development Studies (BDEVS) is a four year interdisciplinary programme that aims to deal with the emerging thrust of the 21st century on different facets of development. The main goal of the programme is to excel in applied social science, and academics, and to strategically develop qualified development professionals required in the field of humanitarian development. The programme intends to produce theoretically sound, technically skilful, and practically pragmatic professionals who work in the areas of social development and social engineering, rural and urban development, poverty reduction, livelihood development, local and community development, policy analysis, programme and project development and many more.

Objectives of the Program

The objective of BDEVS is to produce primary-level professionals, social mobilizers, and development workers required for various social and development organizations and other related areas.

The specific objectives are:

  • To impart knowledge in the area of development and development studies incorporating knowledge from economics, sociology, geography, political science, gender studies, demography, management, public policy and other related disciplines.
  • To equip the students with analytical skills and methods for development studies as a primary level development worker.
  • To enhance practical skills through project work and field studies.
  • To foster Nepal as an inclusive society by ending discrimination and inequalities based on caste, lingual, religion, gender, and geographical diversity.
